Correcting Efflorescence on Block and Matching Block Aggregate Color and Mortar Color

This block and mortar building was affected by efflorescence, or white mineral salts which leached to the surface of the block. This is a natural process and does not indicate a defect, but can create an undesirable appearance. Unfortunately, the owners called a local pressure wash contractor to wash the wall down, and acid cleaner that was used damaged the block color further. Standing too close to the block with a high-pressure tip also caused wand mark damage. When the owners checked around with some experts for advice, the one name that kept coming up for success in color corrections like these was ours, Exact Match™. Although the problem was severe, we repaired the block color and even recreated the white and yellow aggregate (rock speckles in the block) color as well. As a finishing touch, we also stained the mortar joints back to their original light gray color. The results? Color so natural and believable, that the wall looks and feels just like unstained block and mortar. The aggregate is so believable that it is undetectable from the other walls on the building that were unstained!  The problem was permanently erased and the owner couldn’t be happier that they found us.  When you or your referrals need block color correction, remember to contact Exact Match!
